So it’s about 4.5 days to Gower 50 and fingers crossed, my quad strain is fully healed. I did complete Tough 10 on Sunday with over 1200 feet of gain with no issues during or after. That’s got to be a good sign right?

However, after nearly 3 weeks of very little training, where does this leave me now?

Basically, I have no idea.

I still believe resting and healing was the right choice, but missing a couple of back to back long runs hasn’t been ideal. I don’t feel I’m prepared but a part of me still believes I can complete the 50 miles – but slower than originally hoped for.

But it is what it is and I’ve always said the 1st race should be about finishing and enjoying rather than the time it takes. So I’ll stick with the laid back attitude, study the route, prepare the race kit and see what happens.

Note to quad – please behave
